Charles graduated from Brookside High School (1958) and Lorain County Community College (1979). He served in the U.S. Air Force and served as a Lorain Policeman. Charles retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1996 and also from Murray Ridge Oberlin workshop. He was a member of AARP Oberlin Chapter #395 and a volunteer at Mercy Hospital (Oberlin) for six years. Charles loved the game of baseball and was a very talented pitcher. He attended the Cleveland Indians Baseball Fantasy Camp in Tucson, Arizona (1990). He enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, belonging to Oberlin Golf Club.
Charles is survived by his wife of 16 years, Deborah Martin; daughter, Kimberly Martin of Sheffield Village; stepson, Dustin Webb of Medina; stepdaughter, Nicole Malinkey Webb of Lorain; brothers, Carl Martin of California, Larry Martin of Maryland; sister, Sheila Cox of Pennsylvania; and nine wonderful grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence G. Martin and Ethel P. (Haas) Martin; brother, Russell H. Martin; and son, Matthew C. Martin.
A gathering of family and friends, for a celebration of life, will be held at the Lorain County FOP Hall #54, located at 36854 Royalton Rd. (Rt. 82), Grafton, Ohio 44044 on Sunday, September 8, 2013, from 1 to 5 P.M.
