Marie A. Mycek, 79, of Wellington, died Monday, September 2, 2013, at home, after a lengthy illness. She was born February 20, 1934 in New Windsor, New York, to the late John and Bertha (nee Pecka) Gimbert and was a 1951 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy. Marie grew up and spent her youth in New York, moving to Wellington in 1960.
Marie worked with her husband at P.O.V. Products. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and liked to knit and read. Marie enjoyed the simple life, devoting herself to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Marie is survived by her loving husband, George, who she would have been married to for 61 years on the 21st of September. She is also survived by her children, Patricia (Jack) Sumpter, Beth (Mark) Zacharias, and Pete (Lisa) Mycek, all of Wellington; grandchildren, Daniel and David Sumpter, Joseph, Jared, John, Anne, and Abby Zacharias, and Jacob and Amanda Mycek; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Cannon of Middletown, New York.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 3 to 5 P.M., at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St., Wellington, and Thursday, September 5, 2013, from 10 A.M., until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial, beginning at 11 A.M., at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Father James Reymann will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
