Police identify drivers in North Ridgeville crash

North Ridgeville police have released the names of the two drivers involved in a head-on crash Tuesday  on Route 83.

Julie Maley, 79, was driving a Chevy Oldsmobile Alero northbound over the railroad overpass on Route 83 when she crossed left of center, colliding with a GMC Sierra truck driven by Michael Smith, 62, according to  North Ridgeville Police Capt. Marti Garrow. Both drivers had to be extricated.

Maley was flown by Life Flight helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she was in stable condition, according to hospital officials.

Smith was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center. His status was not available Wednesday afternoon.

Also in the truck were a female passenger and two children in the backseat, none of whom was injured. There were no other occupants of the car.

The accident remains under investigation.
