Edward J. “Mr. Ed” Bosmeny, 88, a longtime resident of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Duluth, Minnesota and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Seasons Hospice Home in Naperville, Illinois. He was born July 12, 1925 in Elyria.
The beloved husband of Betty Bosmeny (Groh) and the late Lois (nee Strother) Bosmeny who preceded him in death June 21, 1991; loving father of Bruce (Ramona) Bosmeny of Shorewood, Illinois, Carol Bosmeny of Indianapolis, Indiana and William (Lauren) Bosmeny of Tucson, Arizona; loving step father of Sheri (Bruce) Griffin and Holly (Joe) Castellanos, both of Colorado; adored grandfather of Michael and Elizabeth Bosmeny, Tyler, Caitlin, Chloe and MacKenzie Bosmeny; devoted son of the late Stephen and Therese Bosmeny; dear brother in law of Doris (the late Victor) Perry and Jerry (Jim) Wade, both of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; fond uncle of Debbie, David, Becky, Jon, Scott, Alan and Sarah; cousin of Helen (the late Norman) Cramer of Grafton, Ohio and Carl (Barbara) Mussey of Michigan.
Ed grew up in Elyria, attended Elyria High School, where he played football. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a Bombardier. After the war, he attended Miami of Ohio in Oxford, Ohio. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau, and graduated in 1949 with a degree in accounting. Ed worked many years for U.S. Steel railroads, retiring in 1983. He loved playing bridge, tennis and golf and was a community volunteer. Besides his family, his biggest passion was creating cherished woodworking masterpieces.
Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2:30 to 4:30 P.M. at Friedrich Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, Illinois. Memorial Service will follow Saturday, September 8, 2013 at 4:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Future private Inurnment will be in Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, Illinois.
