Russell worked as a crane operator for the steel mills and several foundries. He served his country proudly in U.S. Marine Corps. Russell was an avid Pittsburgh Stealer fan and loved fishing, camping and working on cars. Russell also enjoyed American Civil War History and spending time watching his kids play sports.
Survivors include his loving wife of 23 1/2 years, Debra Lynn (nee Thompson); sons, Adam of Lorain, Jacob (Amanda) Herbert, also of Lorain; daughters, Megan Herbert of Lorain and Stephanie Herbert of Elyria; brother, Charles Dwain Herbert of Lorain; sisters, Debra (Ed) Fox of Louisville, Kentucky, Tammy Thacker of Elyria, Tracey (Scott) Monos of Elyria and Kim Herbert and Sandy Herbert, both of Texas. He is also survived by one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Michael Ray Herbert; sister, Cindy Lou Marcie; and twin infant siblings, Spring and Donald.
Friends may call Monday, September 9, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 11 A.M. Reverend Jay Roller, Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.
