Benjamin Andras, Sr., 85, of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, September 8, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 30, 1928 in Butler County, Pennsylvania and resided in Elyria since the early 1960s.
Ben served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed as a plumber for 50 years, retiring in 1994 from Gross Plumbing. He attended Lowell Street Baptist Church, where he participated in the Senior Men’s Fellowship, was a member of Plumbers Union Local #42, enjoyed fishing, camping, and attending vintage car shows.
Mr. Andras is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sarah (nee Salisbury); children, Cathy Barnes (Paul) of Leesburg, Florida, Donald Andras (Rose) of Texas, Luann Jones of Canton, Benjamin Andras, Jr. of Bellvue; six stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one great great grandson; seven step grandchildren; and several stepgreat great grandchildren; sister, Martha Heichel; and brothers, Paul Andres and Edward Andras.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Teresa Rodgers Andras; several brothers and sisters; and parents, John and Mary Andras (nee Bobak).
Friends may call 5 to 7 P.M., Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Lowell Street Baptist Church, 642 Lowell Street, Elyria. Funeral service will follow at 7 P.M. Reverend Edwin R. Gore, Sr., of Lowell Street Baptist Church, will officiate. Military Honors will be performed by Elyria VFW Post #1079.
