Joan D. Byers (nee Somers) passed away suddenly, Wednesday, August 28, 2013, in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Joan was born to the late William and Dorothy Somers (nee Rittmayer) on October 27, 1938 in Camden, New Jersey.
Joan married and moved to Ohio in 1957, settling in North Ridgeville in 1963, then moving to Virginia in 1999. Her life revolved around her greatest loves, her boys and all of her
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
An avid gardener, crocheter and chef extraordinaire, you would never leave her house hungry. She was a true gift and a giver. She was the biggest fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and VA Tech Hokies. She loved deeply and passionately and wore her heart on her sleeve.
She is survived by Brian and Dawn of LaGrange, Scott and Heidi of Wellington, Kenny and Brigid of Bridgewater, Virginia and Kelly of Tampa, Florida; brother, William (Sherry) Somers of Westmont, Illinois; grandchildren, Danielle and Dario Torres, Jessica and Jon Gustin, Tim and Mollie Deidrick, Matt, Cullen, Nick, Colleen, Josh, Parker, Morgann, Allison, Molly and Madelyn Byers; great grandchildren, Ava and Alaina Torres and Tatum, Ryann-Lola and Lincoln Deidrick; and her companion and dog, Sprinkles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Somers; and her beloved dog, Ginger.
