NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Security camera photos of two men who broke into a local tire store last weekend have provided police with strong leads in the case.

“We believe that any day now we will locate them and have charges filed,” North Ridgeville police Detective Lt. Greg Petek said Wednesday.

Petek credited news coverage of the break-in at the A&C Tire Store on Center Ridge Road with producing solid information as to the identities of the two suspects.

“People who saw the video and know who they are have given us some pretty good information,” Petek said.

Petek said he expected arrest warrants for the suspects would be issued within a few days. Specific charges had not yet been determined.

Video footage from surveillance cameras showed two men entering the A&C Tire store at 39745 Center Ridge Road about 3 a.m. Saturday and taking cases of beer from a cooler and cigarettes.

Police said no money was taken in the break-in.

One of the men suspected in the break-in is a Lorain resident, while the other is a former North Ridgeville resident who moved to Elyria.

“They’re both in Lorain somewhere now,” Petek said.

One of the men, who wore glasses in the security video, has a history of committing similar break-ins, Petek said, including three local burglaries at Sebastian’s Bar on Center Ridge Road.

Those break-ins all occurred in the early morning hours, as did the A&C break-in.

“This one fits his M.O.,” Petek said. “This is his type of break-in.”

The bar burglaries occurred July 28 when the tavern was entered twice in the same night, and again Aug. 28.

In the July thefts, the suspect was seen in a white van, while he was in a small black car in the August incident.
