Richard W. “Rick” White, 54, of Grafton, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at his home, following a sudden illness. He was born April 26, 1959 in Elyria and was a lifelong Grafton area resident.
Rick was a 1977 Midview High School graduate. He was a very active member of V.F.W. Post 3341 in Grafton, where he currently worked as a bartender. He was also a member of the Elyria Elk’s Lodge #465. Rick was the former manager of the Unicorn Restaurant in Grafton for many years, and also worked as a salesman for Jack Matia Chevrolet. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and was an avid Cleveland sports fan.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Barbara “Barb”; son, Danny White of Grafton; step mother, Jane White of Florida; step sisters, Susan Burton of Oklahoma and Tracey Homenik of Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty White; and a step brother, Ernest Hume.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 13, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Service will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 10 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Fr. Charles Diedrick, Pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church in Elyria, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
