Amber Marie Dolan

Dolan_AmberAmber Marie Dolan, 28 years old, of Wellington, went peacefully in her sleep Thursday, September 12, 2013, following a lifetime battle with Spina Bifita. After spending all of her life in a wheel chair, it seems a small miracle that is walking in the gates of heaven.

She was born on July 12, 1985 at Metro Hospital in Cleveland. She was raised in the family “farm” house for 23 years, before moving to Wellington. She attended the Rehab Center in Amherst for several years before attending Elyria City Schools, graduating from Elyria High in 2005. She was active in Elyria Special Olympics, as well as bowling. She enjoyed her family most of all, talking on the phone and using the computer. She also enjoyed playing cards with her grandmother, Laura Mate, who taught her how to play and with other family members. Amber loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and her favorite player was Hines Ward.

We would like to send a special thank you to Life Care and all the drivers who transported her to and from her many doctors appointments, Metro, EMH Helathcare and Wound Care Center. A very special thanks to Dr. Christopher A. Haas and his staff for their kindness and caring.

Amber is survived by her parents, Carl and Brenda (nee Mate) Dolan of Wellington; a sister, Crystal (Aaron) Hall of Wellington; grandmothers, Laura E. Mate of Oberlin and Yvonne G. Dolan of Elyria; aunts and uncles, Anna Dolan of Elyria, Susan Moore of Wakeman, Debbie Bennett (Del) of Elyria, Sherry Perry (Sam) of Oberlin, Kathy Hartwick (Brian) of Elyria, Joanne Mate of Oberlin; and many cousins. She was especially close to cousins, Bryan Osbourne, Aaron Osbourne, and Angie Gonzalez, thinking of them as brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Frank C. Mate and Carl L. Dolan; and a cousin, Heather Bartish.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 12 Noon, until the funeral services at 2 P.M., with Reverend Beth McKee, Chaplain of Wesleyan Village, officiating. Burial will follow in Camden Cemetery in Oberlin.
