Browns coach Rob Chudzinski keeping QB options open if Brandon Weeden can’t start vs. Vikings with sprained thumb; more traffic trouble for WR Greg Little

BEREA – Browns coach Rob Chudzinski should have a better idea by Wednesday – the first day of the practice week – if quarterback Brandon Weeden will be able to play next Sunday at Minnesota. He sprained his right (throwing) thumb Sunday when he banged it on a helmet in the fourth quarter of a 14-6 loss to Baltimore.
“I think the next couple of days will give us a good indication on that,” Chudzinski said this afternoon. “We’ll see how it responds in the next couple of days.”
Jason Campbell replaced Weeden for five plays against the Ravens and has been the backup throughout the offseason, preseason and start of the season. But Chudzinski said he was keeping his options open if Weeden can’t play.
Chudzinski could choose St. Ignatius graduate Brian Hoyer or Campbell.
Hoyer has one start in four NFL seasons, but general manager Michael Lombardi is a fan and may want to see how he fares as a starter.
Weeden left the stadium with a brace on his hand and said he was in pain.
LITTLE TROUBLE
Chudzinski said he briefly met with receiver Greg Little and planned to talk to him again later today following another traffic incident, which included a citation for driving with a suspended license.
Little was given three traffic violations after being stopped at 1 a.m. today, Cleveland police said. Little was cited for a stop-sign violation, change of course and driving with a suspended license, Sgt. Sammy Moore told The Associated Press. Little’s car was towed.
Chudzinski was asked if Little could face a fine or suspension from the team and said any discipline would be kept “in house.”
Little recently settled a ticket for driving with an expired license plate and was ticketed for speeding.
In April, he was involved in a single-car accident and admitted to driving 127 mph. Last month, he was cited for driving 81 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Little had four catches for 33 yards in 12 targets Sunday in the loss. He has at least four drops in two games.
