Cleveland Clinic to cut $330 million, possibly more jobs

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Clinic is cutting $330 million from its 2014 budget and says it will offer voluntary retirement to some employees but may eventually need to eliminate jobs.

The Clinic informed employees about the situation Wednesday. About 3,000 workers will be notified about early retirement offers next month, but it’s not clear whether more staff would be cut if those offers are accepted.

Spokeswoman Eileen Sheil says the cuts are aimed at efficiency and keeping health care affordable for patients. The Clinic says it’s also trying to reduce operational costs and strictly review the filling of vacant jobs.

Sheil says staffing and benefits constitute more than half of the hospital system’s costs. She says that means non-employee cuts aren’t enough to meet the needed cost reductions.

All you lemmings that couldn’t wait to get your “free” Obamacare, well, here it comes. Losing your job? Sorry about your luck. Hey, at least you’ll have “Free Obamacare.”

Instead of working you can spend your time standing in the government healthcare lines waiting to see a doctor.

    • stop ur whining

hmmmm…interesting that the article says nothing, not one bit about the cuts being directly related to the ACA. Just making it up as you go along huh? That is the reason i hate the tea party. thanks for being part of the problem.

Nevermind that the CCF is a non profit, non government organization . Your rant is completely unrelated and slightly embarrassing.

You see, When you want to reduce costs you have to reduce costs, Yet I suspect if they raised their budget you would complain just the same.

Clearly being an economists or a Rhodes Scholar is nowhere in your future.

In this economy who needs a job?

Less reimbursement equals less dollars. Now these people will be out of a job and getting Obamacare instead. There is nothing affordable about the affordable care act.

Give back the tax breaks at all those satellite offices.

    • Derp

Cleveland Clinic is a Non Profit and does not pay taxes, Nor is it a Federal entity.

There are no tax breaks at all

      Now you know
