Marcella A. Baldauf (nee Gerhart), 91, of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the Center Ridge Health Campus in North Ridgeville, following a brief illness. She was born February 19, 1922 in Avon and was a North Ridgeville resident for most of her life.
She and her husband Harold operated a family farm on Avon Belden Road, where she also opened and operated a roadside stand. Marcella was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville, a member of the Merry Wives of 40 Club, the Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 12, North Ridgeville V.F.W. Post 9871 and the Gold Star Mothers. In 2001 she was awarded the Golden Kernel Award from the North Ridgeville Corn Festival, she was also a volunteer at the North Ridgeville Senior Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol (James) Hamm of Grafton; sons, Bernard (Davena) Baldauf of Avon Lake and David (Rebecca) Baldauf of Ashland; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1992; sons, Raymond in 1969 and Ronald in 1978; sisters, Sr. Thelma Gerhart, C.S.J. and Bernice Miller; and brothers, Donald, Alfred and Norman Gerhart.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 3 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Closing prayers will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. The Rev. Fr. Bob Franco, Pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.
