Teen critically injured in crash recovering

AMHERST TWP — An Elyria teenager critically injured in a car crash early Sunday is recovering.

Alan Bowen, 17, was treated and released Tuesday from Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, according to Tina Shaerban-Arundel, a Metro spokeswoman. Bowen was thrown from the rear seat of the car he was a passenger in on state Route 113 near Bechtel Road, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol’s Elyria post.

The 17-year-old driver of the car, also of Elyria, was charged with drunken driving and underage consumption.

Police said he failed a field sobriety test and registered 0.13 blood-alcohol content in a Breathalyzer test. Another 17-year-old boy in the car suffered minor injuries.

Why is a 17 year old drinking anyway. I would go after whoever gave or sold him the alcohol to drink, they should be the ones responsible for these actions. If I were the parents of these kids, I most definitely make sure that they do some community service for a church or go to a prison because thst is where they will go if they kill someone. NO ONE SHOULD BE DRINKING AND DRIVING! May the kids seek help before it is to late. I would really like to see them sit in one of our youth group sessions it is amazing, almost 20-25 youth here. You all just need to seek god in your lives then you wouldn’t have to turn to alcohol.
