Wellington, Oberlin crime watch: Employee allegedly steals from Village Market

Thursday, Sept. 12

  • 9:48 a.m. – 800 block N. Main St., Village Market, Theresa Pilot, an employee, allegedly took two bags with $50 worth of merchandise out of the store without paying. She was caught on video by the loss prevention officer. She was escorted off the property and told that if she returned she would be charged with trespassing. She was then given a Sept. 17 court date at Oberlin Municipal Court.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

  • 3:26 p.m. – 600 block S. Main St., Dollar General, theft of fake nails and a tube of mascara valued at $12.

Monday, Sept. 9

  • 5:08 a.m. — Parkside Reserve, a light pole had been run over and pulled from the ground. Officers attempted to locate a vehicle at a nearby apartment complex, but none showed damage.

Saturday, Sept. 7

  • 2:45 a.m. — 100 block Elm Street, officers were sent to South Hall for a possible psychiatric incident involving a man who was lying on the ground held by an Oberlin College Safety and Security officer. The man’s girlfriend told police the man had ingested a synthetic drug. He was taken to Mercy Allen Hospital.

Monday, Sept. 9

  • 3:43 p.m. — 100 block N. Main St., police were called to Oberlin Inn for a suspicious package addressed to a person who has no record of staying at the hotel. Police said the package contained a broken VHS tape with two pills bottles, labeled “Glonavar” oxandrolone from Globalanabolic Inc. inside. Police suspected the pills were steroids and they were placed into evidence.
