Alfred E. “Gene” Ice, 82, formerly of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday, July 14, 2013 in Florida, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Wetzel County, West Virginia and had lived most of his life in North Ridgeville, before retiring in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Mr. Ice served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was very active with the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Quarry Lodge #382, Berea Chapter #134 R.A.M., Elyria Commandery #60 Knights Templar, Elyria Council #86 Royal & Select Masters, Knights of the York Cross of Honour Ohio Priory #18, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland and a member of Chapter eight Ohio Good Sam Club. Gene was also a member and honorary Elder of Zephyr Christian Church in Zephyrhills.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline M. Ice; his daughter, Debbie (Joe) Ice-Marullo of North Ridgeville; sons, Dale (Suzan) Ice of Elyria, Steven (Sandy) Ice of Sheffield Twp., Doug (Tracy) Ice of North Ridgeville and John (Kim) Ice also of North Ridgeville; survivors also include 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; his sister, Laura (RE) Brown of Arizona; and his brother, David Ice of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jessie M. in 1969; parents, Clemmie Alfred Ice in 1999, Dorothy Naomi Ice in 1992; and brother, Jack Ice in 1995.
There will be a Masonic Service Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 A.M. with Quarry Lodge #382 officiating and a memorial service following at 10:30 A.M. in the Southwest Christian Church, 6717 Fry Rd., Middleburg Heights. Burial will be in North Ridgeville Cemetery, with North Ridgeville VFW Post #9871, providing Military Honors.
