Lorain County poverty rate up, medium income down

poverty statisticsHard times continue for many Lorain and Lorain County residents.

New U.S. Census Bureau statistics showed poverty increased while household income and home values decreased since the start of the Great Recession in December of 2007. Poverty increased from 12.5 percent in 2008 to 14.4 percent last year in the county. Lorain’s rate rose from 25.4 percent to 27.8 percent. The national poverty rate was 15 percent last year.

The county median household income dropped from $56,343 in 2008 to $49,131 last year, a 12.8 percent decrease. Lorain’s median dropped from $37,264 in 2008 to $33,940 last year, a nearly 9 percent decline. Lorain and the county both trail the national median of $51,017.

Home values also plummeted after the foreclosure crisis tied to risky Wall Street derivatives trading that caused the 2008 financial crash. The county median home value dropped from $156,763 in 2008 to 136,500 last year, a nearly 13 percent decrease.

While the housing market has started to rebound nationally, Lorain and Lorain County lag behind. One in every 432 homes was in foreclosure in Lorain in June, according to Realty Trac, a real estate website. The county rate was one in 567, far higher than the Ohio rate of one in 648 and the national rate of one in every 1,025. The statistics are for cities or counties with populations of about 65,000 and higher.

Behind every statistic is a story. Like Kathleen Benton of Lorain.

Benton, a 38-year-old mother of five, said she lost her job as a McDonald’s restaurant manager in 2008 after contracting meningitis, a potentially life-threatening infection that can cause swelling of the brain or spine. Benton said she relies on Medicaid for her medical bills and food stamps and food pantries to eat.

But not everyone is struggling. The Census Bureau statistics found the richest 5 percent of Americans – households making more than $191,000 annually – have recovered their losses since the recession, while the bottom 80 percent is earning considerably less than their pre-recession incomes. Benton said there is a disconnect between the haves and have nots.

“If you are upper middle class to higher income, you have no clue what it’s like,” Benton said. “You don’t know what it’s like to eat macaroni and cheese for your meal because that’s all there is in the cupboard.”

Jackie Boehnlein, Lorain County Community Action Agency CEO and president, also sees a lack of understanding by Congress of the effect of cutting stimulus programs and implementing widespread federal budget cuts. While the Congressional Budget office on Tuesday reported the deficit is expected to shrink from to $642 billion by Sept. 30 compared to $1 trillion last year, Congressional Republicans are threatening a government shutdown and allowing to nation to default if more cuts — including food stamps reductions — aren’t made.

Boehnlein, whose agency serves about 18,000 people annually, said some clients are working full or part-time jobs, but still struggling to survive. Boehnlein acknowledged the need to control spending, but said austerity is wrong in a time of continued high unemployment and wage stagnation.

“I question where our priorities are as a country,” she said. “It isn’t that people don’t want to work. It’s that there isn’t work available or there isn’t work that would support a family.”

“Benton said there is a disconnect between the haves and have nots.”

Wow , and look at all of the Police , Fire and Teachers that are currently getting a raise , all on the backs of the “Have Nots” who are making less than 40K a year. Since the Story metioned that it is all the republicans fault Look at Lorain County (Democratic Controlled) with a tax levy coming up with there hand out for more money from the “Have Nots” Not to Mention the City of Elyria (Democratic Controlled) with there hand out for more taxes. Lorain County Community College , a busieness worth Billions have there hand out to take more from the “Have Nots” Elyria City Schools also have there hand out for taxes , no dout to give there teachers and adminastrators a raise. Where do these people think the “Have Nots” are supposed to come up with the extra money to give away in taxes. Eat Less ? , even less than they have now. Do you think any of the above eveen feel slightly guilty from taking more from the working poor while they continue to take in more and more every year ? Real;ly they all should be ashamed.

    • stillsleepyeyes

oh please don’t forget STEWART and his 4 hour 18k payout……………….

    • Tom

yea sure, police, fire and teachers are all getting a raise… you do remember the mass layoffs that occurred for the cities and state to reach their budget right?

      • Pablo Jones

I remember seeing news stories every year where the Police and Firefighters blow through their budgeted over time in the first half of the year. I’ve seen plenty of articles of new police and firefighters being hired. Those that I have seen getting let go are the ones that were hired because of a 1 time federal grant. When they were hired most people asked what would happen to them when the grant money runs out and the politicians said don’t worry about that we’ll find the money. Let’s look and see who was in charge of those cities Democrats or Republicans.

    • stop ur whining

LCCC worth billions? gonna have to check on that. It is a simple fact of life that there will always be both the poor and the rich. It sucks, and in a utopian society we would all have enough. But we all know that we do not live in utopia. So what is a “have not” to do? WORK HARDER. IF you do not like your current monetary position change it. I do not believe for one second that one cannot better themselves if they have the desire. The woman in the article with 5 kids…does she have a husband / baby daddy? GED or college degree? My heart goes out to those in need, but at the same time people need to work harder. I spent 2 years work 80 plus hours a week to better myself. Blaming someone else is all people do anymore.

Although I despise unions and the unfair treatment they promote, i still do not blame their needs for my lack of prosperity. First, teachers educated our youth, they have always been under paid in my eyes. They do a thankless job that is vital to not only a community, but the entire country as a whole. They often purchase supplies out of their own pocket and are truly dedicated to their jobs, usually out of love, no one becomes a teacher for the $$$$.

Your police (which have not had a raise in a couple years) protect and serve the public. They help keep our streets safe, and in a world that continues to go down hill there presences becomes more and more needed. Lets also not forget that funding to police and schools allows funds to hire more of each. Personally, if you ever want a great place to live, you can never have enough of either. Both are critical to make a growing prospering city. People don’t move to a city where they have to live in crime and have to send their children to poor schools. When people do not move to you city, you have no reason for businesses to move in, without new business you have no tax revenue. Without tax revenue your city withers and dies.

Firefighters, i am a little less sympathetic too. They do not work much, get great pay, and they all have side jobs and switch shifts to maximize O.T. But at the same time, i do not fault them for my socioeconomic status.

What it boils down to is this. People make decisions and have to live with the repercussions. Too many of the “have nots” are there because they made poor decision. Have children out of wedlock, being on government assistance and continuing to have children even though they are incapable of caring for the ones they have. Choosing to not get an education so they are under qualified for a job that pays well. Spending more time having fun than working and even less time preparing for the future.

After reading this i am sure it sounds as though i am heartless. Quite the opposite. I feel for the people out there that need help, not every “have not” is in their present situation because of poor decisions on their part. For those people i truly feel for you. The problem is there are far to many “have nots” that believe someone else should take care of them and it is someone else fault. The many ruin it for the few. there are FAR too many 2nd and 3rd generations on welfare. FAR too many people that would rather collect a welfare check then work at a minimum wage job because they think it is below them. FAR too many lazy people wanting an easy free ride.

The problem is a false sense of entitlement. I am college educated, an education that I worked hard and paid for myself. When i spent those 2 years working myself to the bone…Day job was a office manager in corporate America, the second…cooking at a fast food restaurant. I looked at my situation and decided i wanted more for myself and swallowed my pride. No job is beneath me. Maybe if more people thought like that there would be less “have nots” and less blame on those that earned their socioeconomic status.

      • Mark B

Yea thats why strongsville teachers were on strike a good part of last yea , all because they CARED about the students . Work Harder for the Fire Department means only sleeping 8 hours of the shift instead of 10 , but hey they need a raise on the taxpayers dime.

        • stop ur whining

          1) i conceded the fire dept debate. over paid. 2) just because teachers strike does not mean that they do not care. you are also talking about cuyahoga county just so you know. If you are gripping about the taxes in lorain, you would cry yourself to sleep living in strongsville.

Unfortunately you are still missing my point by leaps and bounds my friend. If you want more….go get it instead of complaining what others have. You also failed to address owning ones decisions and living with the consequences.

Continue to blame and be jealous of others. Meanwhile you will be left behind because of your own laziness and stupidity. There are no free rides, there is no such thing as easy money. Its called hard work and will power. Something that most “have nots” lack in great abundance.

I’m confused…I’m a teacher NOT getting a raise and making under

    “IT’S BUSH’S FAULT”

You think it’s bad now, wait until Obamacare FULLY kicks in. In another 10 days it begins. Yesterday the Cleveland Clinic jumped on the job cuts bandwagon due to Obamacare. And wait til the fed stops pumping money into the economy to prop up Comrade Obama’s “quantitative easing.”

The gullible low information crowd will still believe everything spoon fed to them from the media.

    • Pablo Jones

The stock market is significantly over priced. As long as the Feds keep printing money it will go up. But eventually it will collapse and it will be much worse than 2008 or 2001-2002.

      • CharlesMartel732

Amen brother. And it’s gonna be ugly.

        • Zen Grouch

If you’re so sure of that…

          …put your money in gold.

          • CharlesMartel732

I invested in lead, copper, brass and steel. Along with a few other things. Good time to get in the market, while they are still pumping it up, all of Obamas Wall Street friends are doing rather well. But, alas, the bottom, she will fall out.

          • Zen Grouch

Yeah, Obama has done a world of good for my TransCanada Corp. stock…

But other than that, if Obama’s responsible for the rise in my stock’s value the past 3 days, I can’t help but love the guy!

Anyway, if you’re worried about the bottom falling out, why on earth would you invest in metals used in manufacturing, rather than put your money in precious metals?

            Am I missing something?

          • CharlesMartel732

            Am I missing something?

            Yes Sir.

If you think of me in terms of Tea Party delusional and put all my precious metals components together I believe you will have your answer.

          • Zen Grouch

            Was I being snarky?

Did I make any assumptions about you or your investment strategy?

I asked a simple question in an attempt to get a handle on the logic one would use, when expecting the bottom to fall out, yet investing in manufacturing metals.

But if you choose to evade the question, that’s cool…

THEN I can make my assumptions ’till the cows come home.

          • CharlesMartel732

My humble apologies. I’m guessing you hadn’t read Mr. or Mrs. stop ur whining’s description of me.

Not evading the question, I’ve read many of your posts here and enjoyed them. Since you seem to be a reasonably intelligent person I thought you’d get a kick out of putting the pieces together.

            A.pologies regarding M.anufacturing M.aterials O.ffered.

Yeah, took me a while to come up with that.

          • Zen Grouch

No apology necessary… I’m an abrasive guy.

But anyway, I’ve done my research, and was getting up for the opening bell to consider FEYE if the IPO is tomorrow, but will probably grab some FCX to round things out since they do precious and non-precious metals. Use to play with GLD but had my rear end handed to me on short term deals more than I made money. When dealing with gold, it’s like whatever logic I’m using puts me exactly where I don’t want to be.

          • CharlesMartel732

Good luck. Be it wisdom or folly I have allowed someone else to handle my meager investments. With the exception of the aforementioned manufacturing metals.

          • Smira29595

Zen is smarter then all of us LOLOLOL Yeah keep investing in Brass & lead. =D

          • CharlesMartel732

Brass and lead, the poor man’s silver and gold. Prices coming down a bit, but not much.

          • Smira29595

Not much…. But I keep investing

          • CharlesMartel732

Me too. The Russian stuff is still reasonable but that good old USA match grade quality brass lead and copper is outrageous.

          • Smira29595

Well we saw the writing on the wall, started in 2008, still adding a bit over 10K shares.. A mix off both Russian & American mostly American, A very diversified portfolio.

          • CharlesMartel732

I love diversity. My CMP investments did very well in x63 and x51 for years. Slowing down a little bit there since CCCP 44 caused the market to panic. x39 and x54R really came on strong for awhile, and I’m glad I invested in S,L and LR while the gettin’ was good. Hard to get into that market now.

Currently looking into more primitive stock.

          • Smira29595

I can relate was buying LR at 6 a share close to 14 now. X 39 some VERY diversified & exotic ( think SBT
) but a lot of common. we also have X54 hard to come buy pick up all we can get LOL

          • CharlesMartel732

I’m right there with ya, picking up all I can. Looking into real estate investments too! Can’t go wrong there. Remembering all the lessons my old Uncle Sam taught me when I was younger. Haven’t forgotten that oath and creed he made me learn by heart. Don’t know why he kept referring to me as one of his misguided children though. You know how crazy uncles can be.

          • Smira29595

Real estate we got, Hubby Grunt me wing wiper, both retired. Keep your eyes open , look at replenished, I replenish some of my own. Brass, not real estate.

          • CharlesMartel732

Thanks for the tip, I’m going to look into that, got plenty of spent that I’ve saved. Nice chatting with you, best to you and yours.

          • Zen Grouch

Pretty cryptic stuff, but are you two are talking about munitions as though they were actual investments…
If so, that’s one bleak view of the future, unless I’m missing something.

          • Smira29595

Please show me where I am against background checks………………

          • Zen Grouch

Sure, you say you’re for background checks as they are, which really aren’t very effective at all…

When I say background checks, I’m talking about checks which aren’t in place yet, the kind of checks that will actually keep firearms out of the hands of paranoid whack jobs who believe at some point in their life they’ll have to defend themselves from the government that protects them.

So, what is your opinion of the kind of background checks Obama is pushing for?

Some kind of plan to take away your thousands upon thousands of rounds of ammo and precious guns?

          • Pablo Jones

Which laws or proposed laws are those? Do you think they will be more effective? Where there is a will there is a way.

          • Zen Grouch

When I specified the back ground checks Obama is seeking and you come back and ask which laws I’m talking about, I have to wonder what your motive is, or if Rush Limbaugh didn’t bother to cover Sandy Hook in his daily ravings.

          • Smira29595

No the politician are ignoring mental health ( for the most part) and going after law abiding……….

          • Zen Grouch

Did you get that one from Rush, or from your preacher man?

You know, the guy who tells you Obama is working with the devil…

          • Smira29595

No I read from many sources.

          • Zen Grouch

Thanks for sharing some of those esteemed sources!

Which one said “…the politician are ignoring mental health ( for the most part) and going after law abiding……….”

Brilliant plan… they feel it’s not enough to just be mentally unstable, and one can never be TOO paranoid!

Oh, don’t worry, the world is going to end soon enough…
…a minute or two after the ATF tosses the Flash/Bangs through your windows.

            Wonderful Link! Great for laughs…

I could tell it would be a fun site by the following statement in the logo, caps errors and all!

***”Inside Every Liberal Is A Totalitarian Screaming to Get Out.”***

Congratulations on your well rounded reading list, the two links you provided so far tell volumes about you and anyone else like you who feels the need to stockpile over 10,000 rounds of ammunition for when the big bad liberals come to take away your guns!

          • Smira29595
          • Zen Grouch

What’s this got to do with Ronnie ‘Poopie Pants’ RayGun shutting down the mental health facilities?

          • Pablo Jones

Well I must have missed where you specified them. Above this post was just a bunch of comments about investing ideas. I’ve seen lots of general ideas of what kind of guns laws should be passed. So I want to know which ones you are referring to that would stop gun violence. My motivation is to find out which ones you think will work.

Since you brought up Sandy Hook, what law would have prevented a stolen gun from being used?

          • Smira29595

I haven’t been able to get him to answer who he thinks should have the right to own weapons. Good Luck

          • Pablo Jones

You know if they really want to stop mass shootings they should just pass a law to make it illegal. Oh wait it already is illegal. Maybe if they want to prevent people from calling in bomb threats to schools they should ban phones or at least require background checks on who should own phones so that only the right people should own a phone.

When rape was made illegal they said only the rapists will commit rape. Guess what they were right. Laws are only followed by law abiding citizens.

          • Smira29595

            Couldn’t agree more………

          • Zen Grouch

            Pity really…

When you’ve been so forthcoming when repeatedly questioned regarding your opinion on the topic of stricter background checks.

Once again, I’m for them. But I guess you really do need that response repeated, since your reading comprehension is just barely this side of -nil- …or is that -NHI- …I get those two mixed up all the time! BWAAAA-HAAAA-HA!

You can tell “Hubby” this is me laughing at YOU!

But anyway, if you want me to go into infinite detail on who should or shouldn’t be allowed to own/purchase munitions, I don’t care to be sucked into the quagmire of explaining my position to a massively thick brick wall, Sweet Cheeks.

          • Smira29595

Listen you misogamist, NO ONE And I mean NO ONE calls me sweet cheeks with the exception of my husband. As far as what you think I could care less. I guess it is OK for you to have a weapon but no one else. As they say when seconds count the cops are minutes away. BTW I am shaking in my combat boots worrying about the ATF. Get through my security & my dogs more power to you.

          • Zen Grouch

I basically call you a moron for not bothering to read or comprehend information you post links to, and nothing…

…but call you Sweet Cheeks and watch the fireworks!

            Chill out Honey Buns…

            You are pig……………. Plain & simple…………

          • Zen Grouch

I’m sorry ‘Guest’ but if you’re too sensitive for words like sweet cheeks and honey buns maybe you shouldn’t be playing with mommy’s computer.

            …you’re much too hysterical.

You better pray your nemesis Obama doesn’t pass stricter gun ownership requirements.

How is this my problem, Pablo?

            No habla American?

          • Pablo Jones

How about this. Who do you think shouldn’t have guns? Once we define that it will be easier to address how to prevent them from having guns. Then we can look back and see which cases would have been prevented. And whether or not they can be enforced.

For example, lets prevent bad people from having guns. Gun dealers and private sellers will be prohibited from selling guns to people that will commit a crime with them.

While that would be a great law that would keep the bad people from having guns there is no way to determine who those people will be or enforce it.

          • Zen Grouch

Why are you concerned with what I think about background checks, other than something needs to be done to improve them?

#1. I personally am not a policy maker.

#2. I don’t care to engage in a baited conversation with you after seeing how you only seem to comprehend what you wish to comprehend.

You’re either willfully ignorant, or just plain ignorant. So, pardon me for not wanting to waste my time on you.

            Have a nice day! :)

          • Pablo Jones

Concerned? No. I am amused by you. You’re like carnival freak show. Fun to watch but I have concern about how they feel or what they do to themselves.

“#1. I personally am not a policy maker.”

I guess mommy still set the policies and rules for you.

“#2. I don’t care to engage in a baited conversation with you after
seeing how you only seem to comprehend what you wish to comprehend.”

Well after reading a few of your posts I can see why, it must be hard for you to engage in any sort of conversation, let alone a comprehensible one. I guess that is why you personally can’t make any decisions.

If my encounters on this board lately have shown me anything, they’ve shown that we really do need to devise a way to screen current and potential gun owners in a meaningful way on the federal level.

            I’m not against gun ownership…

…I’m against allowing paranoid crazies and the totally irresponsible to own guns.

Good Idea and since most of the mass murders in the last 20 years have been Muzzies , Democrats and ex cops lets start with them.

          • Smira29595

Well you need to thank the LIBERAL ACLU they are the one that fought to let all the crazies out of institutions & Kept their record secret……………. maybe 1 mass shooting a year before 1980, Now as many as 10 a year and why is the media silent on the mass shooting in Chicago last night, 13 wounded, OH yeah it’s Shitcago that’s why. wouldn’t want to embarrass Obamao……………

          • Zen Grouch

Sorry missy, but it was your god Ronnie RayGun who cleared out the mental health facilities, because they were costing too much to operate. And we all saw how well that worked out.

You went out of your way to “seem” to be in favor of background checks.

Yet how did I know you would evade a direct question on the subject?

And seriously, do you feel an actual need to squirrel away 5 figures worth of ammunition?

And, do you feel comfortable enough with “the government” to announce such a figure in this blog?

            …knock, knock!

          • Smira29595

Hubby just said you would blame it on Ronnie……. liberals are sooooooooooooooo predictable,, The ACLU went to the Supreme court ruled in favor of the crazies (1983). Ronnie happened to be president at the time but was all the courts & ACLU

**Hubby just said you would blame it on Ronnie…….**

Ohhh a link to an unknown author on a Blog site! Well, I guess if it’s on the internet it’s gotta be true!

Try on this link if you’re interested in something credible and scholarly:

            http://www.sociology.org/content/vol003.004/thomas.html

“In Reagan, the Right found a spokesman capable of aligning conservatives, centrists, and working class whites. With this coalition, Reagan was able to bring about a number of reactionary changes in public policy (Alford, 1988).

This paper provides an illustration of this co-optation by examining the policies regarding involuntary commitment of the mentally ill. The shifts in such policies were not the result of overt attempts at change, but rather part of an overall effort to realign the political economy to be more profitable for business. The overall result was that political discourse shifted from a focus on social policy to a focus on fiscal policy. As such, social programs that necessitated financial outlays on the part of the federal government were overlooked in favour of policies that
            seemed less costly.”

Thanks… it’s just that I never considered brass & lead investments.

My off the cuff assumptions may be wrong, but I always thought when the economy is doing well, precious metals go down, and vice versa. And that manufacturing metals would do well in a strong economy and bad when the economy tanks.

Anyway, you planted the seed, now I’ll do some research…

          • Pablo Jones

Why buy gold when it is near the highest point it has been in 30 years? If you were saying buy gold 15 years ago when it was at the lowest point I would agree with you. Gold is a hedge against inflation, not an investment. If all the over printing money is being pumped into the stock market when it crashes it will be wiped out minimizing inflation. The best best is to slowly start cashing out a portion of your stock portfolio and investing in cash or short term bonds.

          • Zen Grouch

Can’t argue with anything you say…

But then, I’d have to be a darned good fortune teller to do that.

i read absolutely nothing on the clinic cutting jobs bc of obamacare. people need to give rattling that saber a rest. So far it is only speculation that rates will jump. Fear mongering and nothing more. Lets take it out for a spin before we decide it is awful. You would think that the tea party would be all for it if it is truly going to be that bad. Then they have plenty of I told you so’s and can gain the leverage they so desperately want. My guess…they are either A) afraid it will work or B) our congress has insurance companies in their pockets paying them to condemn it so there is no stop to their gravy train that has been going on far too long.

IS ACA perfect….no way. but instead of 44 attempts to repeal it why not make changes? Instead of condemning it as the devil, try and introduce your own model. Neither which have been done. I will also note, that two states, that have already used a plan similar (NY and MASS) are predicting lower rates. Again all speculation, but i think i have made my point. I read all of both ACA, and Romney’s plan when he was governor. When i was done, on top of being irritated at how long it took me, i reached the conclusion that they are extremely similar.

Forgive me, but you sound awful tea party-ish and that is scary. If i am off base i apologize in advance. It is just that the tea party is scary. they are a zero compromise radical group that imply that if you want to be a ” republican” you need to HATE DEMOCRATS, and go to church and follow the path of GOD and be homophobic. Too much of anything is a terrible thing.

Now i am sure you are saying to yourself, another stupid liberal. If you are, you are 100% a tea partier. Feel free to read my above post to another comment and i am sure you will read that my opinions are very much conservative. I lean right of center and voted a mostly republican ticket in the last election.

I consider myself a republican, but lately i have grown tired of the party due to the tea party and their radical views. They are killing the republican party. They are a complete turn off to anyone level headed. If they take over the party, republicans are in a huge amount of trouble and it will back fire greatly, as it already has begun too.

Again, i apologize if i lumped you into a group that you do not belong. If you are a genuine republican…i hope you jump on board with the ACA. if it works, great, we are all better for it. If it fails, Christie will win office in 2016, and republicans will gain seats in the house and senate.

      • CharlesMartel732

You didn’t look very hard. Google ‘Cleveland Clinic cuts jobs citing Obamacare.’ Even liberal news sites are reporting it.

Yes, I am an evil Tea Party person. I too am fed up with the republican (democrat lite) party. I’ve had enough government, thank you very much. I wonder if the IRS will audit me at the end of the year for admiting this?

If Obamacare is such a great thing why are the unions coming out against it? If it’s so great why is Obama giving waivers and subsidizing it for his friends and congress?

Obamacare is a nightmare that has already cost this country jobs and money. Other businesses are also cutting benefits to employee spouses citing Obamacare. Although the press isn’t reporting much of it.

No republican has a chance at the White House, the media will destroy the strongest republican candidate, like they’ve done the last several elections, leaving the weakest to run against Hilary.

The media and special interest is going to do everything they can to make sure Hilary is the next president. Half the population is already bought off and will vote “D” no matter who the candidate is.

Christie doesn’t have a chance, conservatives view him as a turncoat, which he is. Conservatives will sit home again like they did when Romney was the candidate.

        • stop ur whining

dude you are a scary fanatical person. you are part of the reason for the great divide in this country. again i googled the clinic and not one mention of ACA. but i will even let that one slide to touch base on something worse. U.

First the waivers to congress on ACA. It means nothing as it would have always been the case. The federal government employes over the set minimum. Employers, sears, ford, the us government all employe over the minimum and it is standard that an employer pays for part of insurance. You talk about media biased, you bit hook line and sinker into a non story. they are still going to be part of the exchanges and always were.

Secondly, people are coming out against ACA because of all the speculation and fear mongering being driven by your new party. There has been not one, again i reapeat not one single confirmation that it is not going to work. Just rhetoric and saber rattling.

Three, republicans being democrat lite. Embarrassing and foolish. Continue this train of thought and see where it gets you. The most recent past election saw red incumbents in red states, (your democrat lites) lose their primary to the tea party only to be defeated in the general election by liberals because people were terrified of the radical dangerous ideas.

Four, republicans can and will again sit in the white house. The only chance they have of losing this is if the tea party takes over. If that happens, you are 100% correct, a republican will never again have that seat. Your party is too radical.

the tea party believes that in order to be a republican you must 1) be a servant of the lord, 2) homophobic, 3) u have to deny facts and think scientific research is a bull 4) MOST IMPORTANTLY YOU MUST HATE DEMOCRATS. You are a member of a party that has zero tolerance to compromise and believe that you are 100% right always and everyone else is not just wrong, but stupid for believing something different.

your party will be the downfall of a good republican base similar to the far left in the late 70′s. It resulted in an enormous backfire on democrats and soon enough, i hope the same happens to the Tea party.

Finally, you say it is wrecking America, destroying jobs and the media is not reporting it. i humbly await any facts that you may have to back up such an egregious statement that borderlines the word libel.

PS. it is always a tea party line…TOO MUCH Government but that is just a tag line, it is never backed up with concrete facts. Further more I have not seen or heard a purposed replacement to ACA from your party. But i suppose that is just more media biased right?

PSS. even Fox news is starting to lean away from the tea party, does that not tell you anything? Crazy fanatics, not another way to better describe the tea party. Proof, they are pushing to grind our country to a halt because they do not like ACA. That is a real logical thought. Our forefathers would role over in their grave if they saw what the tea party is doing to America.

I have zero respect for anyone that is too arrogant to believe that they are wrong, as well as bold enough to believe that anyone not for their cause is an evil to humanity. The most ironic part, these are people of God. I’m sure he is impressed by their intolerance too.

Ah, so much for pleasantries, time to go on the attack eh?

Here’s a tid-bit from a Huffington Post article about the clinic cutting jobs:

“CLEVELAND, Sept 18 (Reuters) – The world-renowned Cleveland Clinic said on Wednesday it would cut jobs and slash five to six percent of its $6 billion annual budget to prepare for President Barack Obama’s health reforms.”

I would cite several more but I’m guessing I’d be wasting my time.

Let me get this straight, I’m scary and fanatical because I believe in limited government, lower taxes, Jesus and man-woman=marriage?

The times, they are a changin’

For someone who claims to be a republican, you sure are defending Obama’s policies, are you really John McCain? It’s time to retire John. Please take the rest of the RINO’s with you.

        • stop ur whining

I conceded the clinic debate, can u not read? More importantly, times r changing. Your views on a man n a woman in marriage r just fine. I believe in it greatly. However I am also tolerant to others beliefs. Thanks for proving my point. U believe in heterosexual partnership so it’s impossible to tolerate homosexual partnership. U again mention “big government” with zero examples. God is the focal point of ur argument. You r not scary bc u believe in this. U r scary bc you believe that it is the only way to live. You are intolerant of others. U believe u r superior, infallible. U represent wat is the worst part of America. In plain English u r a bigot, a sexiest and according to the bible u Cherish so, condemned to rot for eternity. As for McCain….don’t really like the guy, but I respect him. That is a prisoner of war that defended his country while you sat idly by as a coward. Pick up a rifle and stand post. And don’t try to say u served, u didn’t, bc if u had u would nvr speak against a p.o.w. you at ur root are an intolerant bigot and u do ur self and anyone embarrassed enough to claim relation to u a gigantic disservice. Continue ur hate speech, Westboro church is looking for more anti-Americans. Yes, that is what u r. This country was founded on tolerance and acceptance of others and their views. Keep spewing hate and intolerance. Everyone gets theirs in the end

          • Smira29595

I can respect John McCain for his military duty and still be against his policies. He is a POW and military hero, but he is also a Senator elected to represent the people. I will disagree till the cows come home. And I too am Combat Veteran.

        • stop ur whining

And rino….hilarious. I am a republican. I believe in free market n common sense. I believe in hard work and low taxes. I believe in responsibility 4 actions, free speech and my right to defend myself. I however believe that others can disagree. That I can be wrong, and except that others ideas can be useful. I believe that god is important personally, but has zero place in goverment. I’m proud who I am, and am embarrassed to share the earth with a person of ur limited intelligence

How’s that hopey changey stuff workin’ for ya now?

Just fine, The economic outlook is better, DJIA is at all time high, Healtcare is coming and your Sarah Palin quote is just as outdated as your political party.

      Have a great day!

      • Larry Crnobrnja

        Did you miss the graphic?

      • bpbatista

Economic growth is slowing (from an already pathetically low rate), there are record numbers on food stamps, record numbers in poverty, record numbers on disability, declining incomes, increasing income inequality, fewer jobs, few people looking for jobs, record debt, record deficits, etc., etc.

Despite all that, Mrs. Lincoln still liked the play. Typical Democrat.

      • Pablo Jones

Do you realize why the stock market is up? All the excess money the government is creating and spending is sitting in stocks. The reason we haven’t seen inflation is because that money isn’t out being spent. It is significantly over valued. The last 2 times it was in this range was in 2008 and 2001. The bubble will pop sooner than later (Market crashes have historically started in the fall). Saying the economic outlook is good is like saying a 800 pound man stuck in bed is healthy because he’s well fed.

As far as healthcare it isn’t coming to those that have lost coverage.

And for the demographic group that voted 90% for Obama. Black unemployment is at the highest it’s been in years. Black poverty levels have increase more than any other group. Black home ownership has dropped more than any other group. Black median household income has dropped more. And I could go on and on. Or am I racist for pointing that out?

      • CharlesMartel732

Are you on the Obama payroll trying to convince the country how good 0 care is going to be? Clearly your not from this democrat stranglehold area, where the poverty rate is up and jobs are gone.
