Police search for suspect in armed robbery at Circle K

ELYRIA – A man robbed Circle K on Broad Street late Thursday after walking in wearing a ski mask and brandishing a knife, police said.

Police said the incident started at 10:46 p.m. Thursday when the man, holding a pocket knife and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans, came into the store and in a low voice asked for money.

Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said the man – whom the clerk said might have been a customer in the past – never verbally threatened the clerk during the brief encounter.

He left after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash and a pack of cigarettes, Costantino said. He headed east on Broad Street, the clerk told police.

Costantino said the investigation is ongoing and police are looking for a potential suspect in the surveillance videos from Thursday night.
