Mary Lee Schneider-Gilles (nee Januska), 90, of Avon Lake, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Avon Lake Town Center – Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake, of a lengthy illness. She was born December 25, 1922 in Cleveland, and lived in Avon Lake for over 30 years, moving from Avon.
She worked in the deli at Billinghurst Grocery Store in Avon from 1964 to 1991. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church Avon Lake, and also a member of the St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon Mission Circle. She volunteered for the Northeast Lorain County Food Bank for many years, and enjoyed reading and playing cards with her family.
She was the loving mother of Reverend Mr. Kenneth F. Schneider (deceased) (Diane Schneider-Leblanc) of Akron, Nancy L. (Dan) McGhee of Avon, Beverly A. (Reverend Frank) O’Connell of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Glenn A. (Karen) Schneider of Avon Lake, Bonnie J. (Marty) Milo of Euclid, Donna (Matt) Kilpatrick of Parker, Colorado, Daniel J. (Jody) Schneider of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Linda K (Ben) Blazina of Avon. She was the beloved grandmother of 16; and great grandmother of 14; dearest sister to Luella Petto of Olmsted Falls, and the late Lester Januska.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert F. Schneider who died in 1964, to whom she had been married 23 years. She was also preceded in death by husband, Robert Gilles.
Friends will be received Monday, September 23, 2013, 4 until 8 P.M., at Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Road, Avon, where closing prayers will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013, 9:15 A.M., followed by a 10 A.M. Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Avon Lake. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
