Lorain police were called to the 2000 block of Oakdale Avenue about 2:23 a.m. on reports that two people were about to stab each other during a fight.
When they arrived, officers found several people standing outside a house yelling and pointing to a man and woman who were arguing and shoving each other.
Reports said the man had a knife and refused orders by police to show his hands.
One officer drew his service revolver after the man refused a second order to show police his hands.
The man, who was identified as Eugene Robinson, 21, then dropped two knives after which he was handcuffed.
Robinson, who first gave police a false name, said he had the knives to protect himself after a group of people at a bar got angry at him earlier in the night when he fought another patron.
After Robinson was taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication, disorderly conduct persisting and obstructing official business, police arrested two women who began fighting.
The women were identified as Evelyn Vazquez, 40, Robinson’s mother, and Holly Vazquez, 30.
Police said all three had been drinking at a bar before the incident.
Both women were charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and disorderly conduct persisting.
