Police seize guns, drugs after break-in attempt

ELYRIA — A resident’s call to police about four men with guns trying to break into an apartment around 3:05 p.m. Sunday led to the seizure of drugs and a pistol.

A .38 caliber revolver, ammunition, small amounts of crack cocaine and heroin and drug paraphernalia were seized from an apartment at 421 Foster Ave., in the Foster Garden Apartments, according to police reports. The apartments are near state Route 57 and Bond Street.

Two men, whose names were removed from the police report, were charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. One of the men also was charged with carrying a weapon under disability. The men hadn’t been arrested Monday night, according to Sgt. Deena Baker.

Police were called by a resident who said she saw two of the four men holding guns outside the apartment. She said they ran when they saw her.
