Driver charged with hitting police car

SHEFFIELD LAKE — The driver accused of smashing the driver’s side door off a police cruiser at 4037 Lake Road around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday and then fleeing the scene has been charged.

Police Chief Tony Campo said video from Officer James Simone’s police cruiser camera helped track down suspect Terry Hines on Wednesday. The video showed the type of car Hines was driving and where he turned after the accident, according to Campo.

Simone, who narrowly missed being struck, was making a traffic stop just south of Lake Breeze Road. Simone was unhurt and the driver he stopped was treated and released from Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain for minor injuries.

Hines, 60, of the 900 block of East Drive in Sheffield Lake, was cited for failure to control, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to exercise caution when approaching an emergency vehicle. Hines is due in Lorain Municipal Court on Oct. 3.

Well Terry, you got away with that DUI too. You’re lucky you didn’t kill Officer Simone, or anyone else!

So, what kind of car WAS Terry driving?
And Terry, what are you doing STILL living in your parents old home?
You’ve been there since we were in grade school!
