Man robs Sears at Midway Mall

ELYRIA – The identity of a man who robbed a Sears at the Midway Mall in Elyria Wednesday is still unknown.

Around 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, a clerk at Sears at 4900 Midway Mall in Elyria was counting the money in her cash register when a man approached her, Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said.

The clerk described the man as black, around 6-feet tall and somewhere between 170 and 180 pounds.

He came around the side of the counter and bumped into her with his shoulder, knocking her out of the way as he took an undisclosed amount of money from the open register, Costantino said.

The man immediately left the store and ran north.

Costantino said police are looking into the incident and trying to see if any other similar cases have occurred around Elyria in the recent past.

Glad to see the no concealed carry signs are working out for them. The exact reason this law abiding citizen no longer shops there – it’s amazing how the criminals dont listen to those signs SMH

Where in the article did you see anything about him brandishing a firearm?? Now I’m SMH

    • Derp

Would you prefer CCW gun nuts opening fire?

Too funny. After making a jerk of themself with an irrelevant comment, they changed their name to “Guest”. There was a picture and name the other day when she made the stupid comment. LOL

Why was the cashier counting a drawer on the sales floor? When I worked retail, that was always done behind locked doors.

  • arthur

why there no cameras in sears tho lol

  • LookBackTwo

The mall lost my business when they decided to become a “victim zone” by banning law abiding CCW permit holders to carry in their mall. Imagine the lawsuits they are inviting for failing to protect their customers and tenants if a person is mugged or killed while on mall property because they were deprived of the means to protect themselves.

    • Derp

Yep someone stole and everyone kept their lives.

Im glad you and your walker texas ranger friends didn’t open fire

      Good Job!!!!

I guess none of you seen our “other paper” this morning and read about the heroin problem we have in the county?
With no jobs and no pills, they turned to heroin, now the steal to get the money to feed their habit.

  • Phil Blank

Didn’t anyone ever tell these clerks, you ALWAYS count your money BEFORE you go on shift!
This protects you from a shady boss, and in this case, you would know how much money was stolen!

  • Tom

Good thing they’re making it easier to get to the mall from I-90… that’ll fix everything…
