Betty Jane Strickler (nee Coultrip), 86, of Amherst, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Mercy Allen Memorial Hospital, Oberlin, after a lengthy illness. Betty was born March 14, 1927 in Vermilion Township and had been a lifelong area resident.
Betty worked for Autumn Aegis Nursing home as a cook and also as a waitress for the Chatter Box Restaurant in Amherst. She was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Allen Strickler of Defiance; grandchildren, Kathryn Kinder, Mark Strickler, Michael Strickler and Kimberly Carder; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank B. and Elma Ellen (nee Willard) Coultrip; a sister, Ella Whiten and brothers, William and Bernard Coultrip.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M., at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be 2 P.M., Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Riddle Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday, September 30, 2013, at 10 A.M., at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
