Anthony L. “Tony”, “Butch” Sorino, Jr.

Sorino_AnthonyAnthony L. “Tony”, “Butch” Sorino, Jr., 73, of Lorain, died Thursday September 26, 2013 at his home, after a sudden illness. He was born April 19, 1940 in Lorain, where he was a lifelong resident. He attended Clearview Local Schools.

Tony was employed by Ford Motor Company in Lorain and retired in 1997 after 28 years of dedicated service. He then worked for ABC Management for 12 years, retiring in 2010. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and loved fishing.

He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a dear friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed every day with his grandchildren and never missed a sporting event they were involved in.

He was fondly called “Punka”, first by his grandson, Michael and his other grandsons and loved ones followed suit. He lived every day for his family.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Beatrice “Bea” (nee Powell), whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage with in August of this year; sons, Anthony “Tony” and Thomas, both of Lorain; daughter, Brenda Marrero of Elyria; grandsons, Michael, Dominic and Dimitri Sorino of Lorain and Kevin and Brittany Sorino and Matt and Marc Marrero, all of Elyria; great granddaughter, Jessica Sorino of Elyria; brother, Robert Sorino, Sr. of Lorain; sisters, Rosemarie (Larry) Oldfield and Jacqueline “Jackie” (Steve) Pintur, both of Elyria; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosemary and John Carpetta of Pennsylvania; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Anastasia Jessie Sorino in 1999; parents, Anthony Sr. and Marietta (nee Calabrese) Sorino; step mother, Mary (nee Caputo) Sorino; sister-in-law, Carlene Sorino; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eugene T. and Kathy Powell; nephew, Robert Sorino, Jr.; and several step brothers and step sisters.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 1 P.M. in the funeral chapel. Elder Mark Naro of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
