ELYRIA – Police are looking for a stabbing victim who fled the scene shortly after being injured by his girlfriend early Tuesday.
The incident began around 9 a.m. on the 100 block of Ridge Circle in Elyria when a 23-year-old man got into an argument with his girlfriend over her talking on the phone, Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said.
The man hit his girlfriend, who had an infant child with her. The woman told police that in self defense, she went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed her boyfriend once in the stomach. As she was calling police, her boyfriend ran from the scene.
Costantino said that police have yet to locate the man, despite having reached out to his family and local hospitals for information.
“We want to talk to him first,” Costantino said regarding whether charges will be filed.
