Flanigan is accused of hitting a fire hydrant with her Chevrolet sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Fox Run and Hunting Hollow near Flanigan’s home in the 1100 block of Fox Run.

Police said she denied drinking but had returned to the scene of the accident shortly after 3 a.m. smelling of alcohol. Flanigan’s license plate was found by the hydrant, and the Chevrolet had substantial front-end damage, according to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office.

During a council meeting last week, she apologized for her Saturday drunken driving arrest.

“I am without a doubt extremely embarrassed, and I’m deeply sorry,” said Flanigan, who faces drunken driving, failure to control and leaving the scene of an accident charges.

The following Grafton police dashcam video was provided by the Lorain County Prosecutor’s office.

    Wow…

As a side note, has it been determined what the “little white pill” was that was found in a baggie on the seat after the mayor exited the vehicle was?

  • Scott Poledna

Sad day for Grafton. No excuess for drinking and driving. She needs to step down.

She’s Not Perfect , Are You Young Man ?

      • Scott Poledna

Noone is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and its important to forgive people that make them. There is no excuse for drinking and driving. I would have more respect for her if she just pled guilty. Come on to plead not guilty. It is so obvious she is drunk. Now she is just wasting tax dollars and the courts time. She is an elected official that is held to a higher standard. If she can’t make sound decisions in her personal life I worry about the decisions she would make for Grafton. My mothers life was ruined by a drunk driver I have no tolerance for irresponsible people. She needs to step down as Mayor, get the help she needs, and let Grafton move onto better days.

Not only should she step down, she should have her license suspended, be required to go to a treatment center and get help, and pay for it all herself.. This is not the first time for her.. Good job to the officer on the seen, he acted very professional ….

    pleading innocent is a right…

  • Marie

This young woman obviously has a drinking and honesty problem that needs to be addressed. It would be in her best interests as well as the community she serves, if she would take a leave of absence and address her issues in a manner that would allow her to have a healthy future.
