Elyria blotter: Man arrested on menacing charge

Friday, Oct. 4

  • 2:33 p.m. — Middle Avenue and Sixth Street, Zachary Long, 18, 100 block Bath St., Elyria, arrested and charged with aggravated menacing and carrying a concealed weapon. Police said Long had two knives in his pockets when officers said they stopped him to arrest him on an aggravated menacing charge from a prior incident. They said one of the knives matched the description of one from the prior incident.
  • 5:30 p.m. — 300 block Broad St., Freda White, 52, same address, arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer. White called police 10 times in seven minutes, according to officers who said she appeared drunk, and shoved Officer Aaron Varga in the chest before being handcuffed. Police said she tried to kick Officer Mark Horton in the groin three times.

Saturday, Oct. 5

  • 1:51 a.m. — 1100 block Melvyn Lane, a woman said the father of her children got drunk and smashed a window to their home after she locked him out. Police said the man was gone when officers arrived.
  • 2:09 a.m. — 800 block Rosewood Drive, Rene Fitzpatrick, 23, same address, arrested and charged with obstructing official business and persistent disorderly conduct. Fitzpatrick repeatedly screamed at her sister who was trying to get her to move out of the sister’s apartment, according to police. They said Fitzpatrick refused to stop screaming and threatened to kill her sister’s cat before being handcuffed. After being handcuffed, police said Fitzpatrick repeatedly slammed her head against the police cruiser’s window and threatened to kill herself. Fitzpatrick was taken to EMH Elyria Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.

    Why no mention of the gun shots and arrests of the shooters from Saturday night?We heard the gunshots on S Logan and then heard on the scanner about them getting the car and ooccupants.
