Man exposes genitals to girls during cross country meet

VERMILION — Police investigated after several cross country girls reported seeing a man expose his genitals to them on a race course.

The incident was reported by Avon Lake Middle  School’s cross country coach, Ron Rocco, who told police that the girls were in a wooded area of the course, between the stadium gravel lot and homes on Sanford Street, during a race that started at 10:05 a.m. Sept. 28.

He said one of the girls ran over to him, saying that a man had just shown his genitals to them in the woods.

The man was described by witnesses as having brown hair and wearing black sweat pants and a gray long-sleeved shirt with the arms black in color. A mother of one of the girls told police that the man appeared to be in his early 30s and was a “very clean looking” person.

Vermilion Schools’ Athletic Director Phil Brickner told police that workers searched the woods after the incident was reported, but the man wasn’t located.
