Alene E. Kavalac (nee Bonsor), 73 of Lorain, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Glenmont in Hilliard. She was born on October 5, 1940 in Amherst, to the late Persis E. (nee Erdrich) and Harry L. Bonsor. Mrs. Kavalac was a graduate of Bowling Green State University.
For 30 years she was a teacher in the Vermilion School District. She and her late husband, John G. “Jerry” Kavalac who died in 2004, owned and operated the former Wharf Marine and The Bait Box in Vermilion. Mrs. Kavalac attended the First Church of Christ Scientist, Elyria. She had been an avid reader.
Mrs. Kavalac is survived by her brother, Harry L. (Gail A.) Bonsor of Lorain; and her sister, Linda L. (Ken J.) Reese of Medina.
Private funeral services will be Friday, October 11, 2013 in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp. with burial following. The Walter A. Frey Funeral Home, 700 West Erie Avenue, Lorain, is entrusted with the arrangements.
