Update: Police searching for suspect in Elyria armed robbery

ELYRIA  — No one was hurt in an armed robbery at Nooks, 226 Middle Ave., around 2:10 p.m. today.

A witness said he saw the robber come out of the store and run east on Sedaris Lane. The witness described the robber as a black or Latino man in his 20s, about 5’10, and about 170 pounds. The witness said the man was wearing a white shirt and jeans. Authorities said the suspect had a silver handgun. Police radio communications said he was wearing a tan coat and wore a red bandanna during the heist.

Nooks, a wireless and cellphone store, is located across from Elyria High School, where dismissal was delayed for about five minutes. A police dog from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to track the suspect, who remained at large as of 2:45 p.m.
