Daniel J. Roberts, 67, of Grafton, passed away Friday, October 4, 2013, after a long illness, at home, and surrounded by his family. He was born on May 3, 1946 in Quantico Virginia, to the late Howard and Shirley Ruth (nee Brundage) Roberts. Daniel was a resident of Riverside California most of his life, moving to Grafton in 2007.
Daniel attended St. Louis University and Los Angeles Trade Tech, where he studied culinary arts. He worked for Saint Joseph Hospital as their head chef for several years. After leaving culinary arts Daniel began to work for the Cities of Orange and Riverside California, as the Parks Superintendent.
Daniel was an avid sports fan, especially the Dodgers, and coached little league and football. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Daniel spent many hours working on drag cars with his sons and attending the races. He was an amazing cook and liked to spend his time in the kitchen. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his words of wisdom. Daniel was always thinking of others and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorlinda (nee Spiess); sons, Tom (Katie) Roberts of Wellington and Mike (Adriana) Roberts of Victorville California; grandson, Joe (Stephanie) Roberts of Victorville California; a sister, Penny Camarena of Wildomar California; and a nephew, David Francies of New Hope Alabama.
A memorial service will be held Friday, October 18, 2013, beginning at 3 P.M., at the Wellington First Congregational United Church of Christ, 140 South Main St., Wellington, with Reverend Brian Burke officiating.
