CLEVELAND — Lions All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson will start against the Browns today at 1 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Johnson, who didn’t play last week in Green Bay, tested his sore knee before the game by doing agility drills and running routes. Browns cornerback Joe Haden will cover him, and was looking forward to the challenge.
The Browns will get one of two injured outside linebackers back.
Jabaal Sheard remains sidelined for the third straight game with a sprained left knee, while Quentin Groves returns after missing three games with a high ankle sprain. Rookie Barkevious Mingo will again start in place of Sheard.
Sheard was limited in practice during the week but was optimistic he’d be able to play. He tested the knee this morning.
Groves should help the special teams and rejoin a rotation at outside linebacker.
Defensive end Billy Winn will miss his third game with a quadriceps injury. The other Cleveland inactives are: offensive linemen Garrett Gilkey, Martin Wallace and Patrick Lewis, tight end Keavon Milton and receiver Charles Johnson, who was signed Saturday.
The Lions inactives are: receiver Nate Burleson, right tackle Jason Fox, tight end Tony Scheffler, quarterback Kellen Moore, cornerback Jonte Green, running back Theo Riddick and guard Leroy Harris.
Corey Hilliard will start for Fox at right tackle.
SCOTT PETRAK’S PREDICTION: Calvin Johnson isn’t his normal game-wrecking self — with sore knee and Joe Haden in lock-down mode. Browns keep train rolling, win fourth straight. Browns 20, Lions 17.
