Randall E. Carder, 75, of Elyria, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013, at EMH Healthcare, following a long illness. He was born November 19, 1937, in Cairo, West Virginia and was an Elyria resident for most of his life.
He worked at the General Motors Corporation for 30 years, retiring as a assembler in 1992, was a United States Army veteran and a avid NASCAR racing and Cleveland Indians baseball fan.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary (nee Strawderman); daughters, Wanda Casto of New Philadelphia, Sharon Langley of Elyria, Susan Rankin of Smithville, Pennsylvania, and Tammy Gregory of Elyria; son, David Carder of Elyria; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Roslyn Williams of West Virginia and Janet Cunningham of Newark; and brothers, Joe Jarrell and Carl Carder of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by daughters, Ruth Ann Carder and Brenda Sue Carder; grandson, John Wesley Rankin III; sisters, Marie Flanagan and Glenda Reed; and brothers, Robert and Curtis Carder.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 14, 2013, 4 until 7 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. Services will be Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at 10:30 A.M., in the funeral home. The Reverend Darrell Deer, Pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
