Ernest E. Geiswite, 86, of North Ridgeville, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born February 7, 1927 in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania and has lived in North Ridgeville for the past 50 years.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a truck driver by trade and was an owner/operator as well as driving for and retiring from Yellow Freight. Ernest was a Charter Member of V.F.W. Post 9871 in North Ridgeville, the Loyal Order of Moose in Elyria and was a licensed pilot.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, boating and in years past, hunting. When he wasn’t cheering on his beloved Cleveland Indians, he could be found tending to his garden. He was a dog lover, and enjoyed all of his pets over the years. His greatest enjoyment was found in getting together with his family and barbequing or hosting fish fries.
Ernest is survived by his son Steven Geiswite of North Ridgeville; daughters Lori Mahlich and Kim Wilson, both of North Ridgeville, Gail Muniz of Perrysburg and Holly Lisa (James) Potting of North Ridgeville; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; brother Ralph Geiswite of PA; sisters Eva Wade and Grace Knapp, both of PA; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Charlyn in 1998; parents Charles and Florence (nee Haines) Geiswite.
Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Rd., N. Ridgeville, on Wednesday, 5-8 p.m., where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Paul Grodell will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
