The most recent case of attempted luring occurred around 4:30 p.m. as a St. Jude’s School 13-year-old student was walking on Poplar Street near North Abbe Road.
The student told police that a man driving a white vehicle with a tailfin pulled up next to him.
According to police, the man, who was described as in his 20s or 30s with dark hair and pimples, turned to the teenager and asked, “Hey kid, do you want some candy?”
When the teenager refused, the man drove away from the scene, heading north on North Abbe Road, according to Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino.
“The description and car doesn’t match with any (similar incidents) recently,” Costantino said, adding that anyone who might see a similar occurrence should report it immediately.
“(Whoever sees an incident like this) should get a description of the car and license plate without putting themselves in jeopardy,” Costantino said.
The investigation into Tuesday’s incident is ongoing and a suspect has not yet been found.
