David Raymond Dewey passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Marliere Hospice Care Center in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born February 1, 1939, son of Lillian and LeRoy Dewey of Oberlin.
He graduated from Oberlin High School in 1958 and married his high school sweetheart, Jean Rathwell. They lived most of their lives in Oberlin and were in business at Rural Furniture and Carpet in Oberlin.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves in the ’60s. David was an accomplished pilot, boat captain, gourmet cook, farmer, Jeep race car pusher and family man. He was alwyas quick to give anyone in need a helping hand.
In the ’80s they moved to Florida and started New Life Hearing Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lillian and LeRoy Dewey; and wife of 54 years, Jean Rathwell Dewey.
He is survived by his brother, Charles Dewey; daughters, Karin Jenkins (David) and Julie Eggers; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
