Eldon C. Phillips

OBIT FLAGPhillips, Eldon C.Eldon C. Phillips, 82, of Wellington, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve. He was born December 30, 1930 in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Commodore and Betty (nee Slaven) Phillips.

Eldon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for 34 years and always enjoyed working on cars, especially with his children and grandchildren. He also loved the outdoors and taking long walks in the park. Blessed with great vocal talent, Eldon enjoyed singing at the Pentecost Baptist Church in Oneida, Tennessee, where kept his membership even after moving to Ohio. Eldon was a joy to those who knew him and will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nelva (nee Terry) Phillips; children, Gregory (Sherry) Phillips of Rockwood, Tennessee, Anthony (Pauline) Phillips of Wellington, Douglas Phillips of Wellington, Terry (Chris) Sasko of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and Christopher (Denise) Phillips of Oneida, Tennessee; siblings, Mae Elliott of Saginaw, Michigan and Ron (Pat) Roberts of Oneida, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 25, 2013, at Jones and Son Funeral Home, 20059 Alberta St. Oneida, Tennessee, at 10 A.M., until the 11 A.M. service, with Pastor Jennings Terry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in memory of Eldon, be made to Friends of Findley State Park, P.O. Box 330, Wellington, OH 44090, or to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44110.
