Daniel L. Hall, 66, of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born December 30, 1946 in Lodi and was an Elyria resident for most of his life. Dan worked at Kobe U.S. Steel in Lorain for 28 years, retiring in 2007 as a ram truck driver. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous, enjoyed showing Great Danes, and was the co-owner, with his wife, of the Cozy Kennel in Elyria.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Christine (nee Scheske); daughters, Michelle Flood and Wendy Shivak of Wellington, Jenny Marti of Lorain and Candace Kinas of Elyria; sons, John Hall of Nova and Robert Kinas of Elyria; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Sue Roberts and Janette Adkins of Wellington, Guin Gregory of Sullivan, Jackie Hartman of New London and Wendy Parobek of West Salem; brothers, Butch Hall of Vermilion, John Hall of Coal Valley, Illinois, Leonard Auble of Wellington and Tom Auble of Cold Water, Michigan; best friends, Russ McGrew and Richard McGranor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Hall; mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Harold Auble; and sister, Lynn McMahan.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 28, 2013, from 5 P.M., until the time of services at 6 P.M., at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. The Reverend Chuck Behrens will officiate. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family, in care of the funeral home.
