Creola “Cre” Johnson, 76, of Elyria, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at her home, following a long illness. Miss Johnson was born in Jefferson, Alabama, coming to Elyria in the late 1950′s.
She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and she was also a homemaker. Miss. Johnson attended Jones Chapel AME Church in Elyria. She enjoyed walking, playing card games and spending time with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Gwendolyn Johnson of Elyria, Brenda (William) Jones of Sheffield Village and Gladys Glover of Elyria; four sons, Cornelius Johnson, Arthur T. Johnson, Sr., Eddie Carl (Louri) Johnson, and Anthony D. Johnson, all of Elyria; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; two brothers, James (Adella) Johnson, Jr. of Elyria and Edward Congress of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Rosa Davis of Cleveland and Gloria Rollicoffer of Grand Rapid, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and James Johnson, Sr.; daughter, Gloria Johnson; grandson, Arthur T. Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Lille Mae Kirk and Rosie Dell Johnson; and brothers, Ulysess, Julies and Eddie Lee Johnson.
Friends may call Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 10 A.M. until the time of service at 11 A.M. at True Vine Primitive Baptist Church, 737 W. 18th St., Elyria. Rev. Armett Thorton and Rev. James Furcron will officiate. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
