Two 17-year-old boys were charged with burglary Sunday near the intersection of West 38th Street and Temple Avenue following an incident at a Lorain man’s house a few blocks away.
Dennis Betka, 54, told police he was at his house on the 1200 block of West 38th Street about 8 p.m. on Sunday when the two teenagers arrived at his door and told him that their bikes were stolen and they needed help. Betka told police that he let the two boys in, gave them water and said he would drive them home. Betka talked to the boys for a while before one of them said that he was a wrestler and grabbed Betka in a headlock. The boy then wrestled Betka to the ground and held him there while the other teenager punched him once in the face.
One boy then grabbed a cell phone from a nearby table and the two teenagers fled the scene.
Betka gave police a description of the boys and minutes later, the two were found walking near the intersection of West 38th Street and Temple Avenue. One of them was carrying the cell phone, which police gave back to Betka. The boys were charged with burglary and taken to Lorain City Jail.
