Victor John Turk, 96, of Elyria, died Monday, October 28, 2013 at Wesleyan Village under the care of his family and New Life Hospice. Mr. Turk was born January 19, 1917 in Cleveland, and made his home in Euclid before moving to Elyria in 2002.
He was a Chemical Engineer, working at Clevite Corporation in Cleveland for 32 years before starting his own plating company, Vic-Tur, Inc. He was a member of St. William Church in Euclid prior to becoming a member of St. Jude Church in Elyria. Mr. Turk’s life centered on his family. He was affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Bumpha” and to his great grandchildren as “Super Bumpha”.
He is survived by one son, Victor (Karen) Turk of Elyria; one daughter, Margaret (Peggy) (Bob Weber) Turk of Syracuse, New York; four grandchildren, Kathy (Matt) Koester, Jim (Lisa) Turk, Mary Ellen (Ben Borchers, fiance) Turk, and Barbara Turk; two step grandchildren, Cindi (Karl) Klamar and Erin (Kevan) Emmott; three great grandchildren, Sophia, William and Jonathan; and four step great grandsons, Sam, Peter, Cooper and Fletcher.
Mr. Turk was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (nee Zupancic) in 1980; granddaughter, Susan Margaret Turk in 1981; and his parents, Valentine and Frances (nee Steklasa) Turk; four brothers and a sister.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria. The Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
