Resident chases off would-be burglars

LORAIN — When two men broke into a Lorain home Thursday, the home owner quickly chased them outside with a shotgun, police said.

Brendon Jasko, 18, of Sheffield Lake, and Lawrence Scott IV, 28, of Lorain, both were charged with burglary Thursday afternoon after police said they broke into a home on the 600 block of Root Road in Lorain.

About 12:30 p.m., a Lorain man told police he was alone on the second floor of his home when he saw Jasko and Scott walking around inside his house.

The man told police he grabbed his shotgun and chased the pair out. When police arrived, the man told them that he had seen a blue Dodge Durango parked on the street in front of his house shortly before the incident.

Police found the vehicle parked in a driveway in the 1500 block of Euclid Avenue in Lorain. Scott and Jasko were near the car and were identified as the two burglary suspects, according to Lorain police Sgt. Buddy Sivert.

Sivert said that police are still collecting evidence.

Both men were being held at Lorain City Jail until their first hearing at Lorain Municipal Court this morning.
