Great American Smokeout

The American Cancer Society marks the Great American Smokeout on the third Thursday of November each year by encouraging smokers to make a plan to quit smoking, or to plan in advance to quit smoking on that day. By quitting for even one day, smokers take an important steps towards a healthier life. According to the Lorain County Community Health Assessment, in 2011 22% of Lorain County residents were current smokers. Research shows that smokers are most successful in kicking the habit when they have support. 

The Lorain County General Health District has put together a Tools to Quit factsheet to help you quit smoking today.
