Doris E. Wells

WellsDorisMrs. Doris E. Wells (nee Myers), 89, of Avon, formerly of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away, Friday, November 8, 2013 at Bradley Bay Health Center, in Bay Village. Mrs. Wells was born October 28, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama and had lived in Avon since 1958.

Doris was a homemaker, member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Westlake, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was also and avid golfer, but raising her eight children was most important to her.

Doris is survived by children, Richard (Janice) of Avon Lake, Gary of Rocky River, Howard “Duke” (Pam) of Avon Lake, Peggy Shepherd (Rick) of Columbus and Becky Hiller (Carl) of North Carolina. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Bertie Lowery.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond L.; children, John (Susan), Helen “Dolly” Haggett (Wayne) and Raymond “Lucky” (Cindy); as well as ten brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 10 A.M. to Noon. A private graveside service will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Pastor Sherman Bishop of Prince of Peace Lutheran will officiate.
