Fire fills Parker Hannifin with smoke

ELYRIA — Elyria Fire Department worked for almost an hour to clear out the smoke from a small factory fire Thursday night.

Around 9 p.m., the Fire Department responded to a call of a small fire in a dust collector at Parker-Hannifin at 520 Ternes Lane in Elyria. By the time fire fighters arrived, workers at the factory had extinguished the fire but needed to clear out the smoke, which stayed in the factory due to its “open structure,” according to Assistant Fire Chief Bob Dempsey.

It took firefighters more than an hour to clear the factory of smoke and ensure that there were no other fires, Dempsey said.
