Suspect in Marathon robbery identified, charged

ELYRIA — Police have identified and charged a man suspected in an armed robbery Thursday.

Samuel Cagle, 26, was arrested on Sheriff Street in Elyria about 7 p.m. Friday. Police identified Cagle after receiving a tip, arrived at Cagle’s house and arrested him as he drove into his driveway, Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said.

Cagle is accused of walking into the Marathon at 803 West River Road, N., about 4:30 Thursday, pointing a gun at the clerk and demanding money. After taking the money, witnesses said the suspect ran from the scene.

Cagle was held in Lorain County Jail over the weekend and released on bond Monday.
