LORAIN — Bond and a preliminary hearing was set for an alleged high-level drug dealer and his girlfriend, who were arrested Tuesday during a police raid.

Jason Vasquez, 35, pleaded not guilty to trafficking and possession of cocaine, heroin and Schedule II drugs, as well as possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia Wednesday in Lorain Municipal Court.

A $500,000 bond was set, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 2 before Judge Mark Mihok.

Vasquez’s girlfriend, Ciera Calloway, 23, also pleaded not guilty to her drug-related charges, which include possession of heroin and cocaine and child endangering. A $100,000 bond was set.

Police believe Vasquez is responsible for dealing fentanyl, a drug that is 100 times more powerful than a single dose of heroin. The drug may be responsible for a rash of overdoses across the county, according to police.

A raid of Vasquez’s Fillmore Avenue house yielded about 30 grams of suspected fentanyl, 20 grams of heroin, 5 grams of cocaine and cash, police said.

Calloway was charged after her 5-year-old daughter was found to be living in the home.
