Robert was a 1951 Elyria High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy. Robert was a tool and die maker and worked for Buckeye Mold and Die, then retired following 24 years of services with General Motors. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and enjoyed going to car shows, museums and traveling. Robert loved to flirt with the ladies.
Survivors include a daughter, Becky L. Thatcher of Elyria; and a son, Barry W. Thatcher. Additional survivors include a grandson, Joseph W. Thatcher of Spokane, Washington; and a sister, Betty Thomas (Bill) of Oregon.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma; his second wife, Dolores; his parents, Maurice William and Virginia (nee Grady) Thatcher; and a stepson, Edward.
Family will receive friends 4 until 7 P.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at The Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria (440)323-4626. Memorial services will be 11 A.M., Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Christ Lutheran Church, 4501 Clinton Ave., Lorain, OH 44055, where the family will also receive friends from 10:30 A.M., until time of services. Pastor Laurie Miller will officiate. Burial will be private at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
