Maximo A. Oania, 84, of Plymouth, died Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Barberton Regency Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born March 26, 1929, in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Phillipines, son of the late Teofilo and Aleja (Aranda) Oana.
He came to the United States in 1956 to practice medicine as a family physician. Maximo opened his practice in Elyria in 1965, where he resided until 1992. He served in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel from 1975 to July 1980. Maximo enjoyed gardening, fishing and his beloved dog Nikki.
Survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Elizabeth Linden Oania; children, Max Oaa, Lisa (Chris) Oania, Leta (David) Oania, Bayani (Vicki) Oania, Tanya (Darren) Salsbury, Joseph (Donna) Linden, Greg Linden and Carol (Steve) Campbell; grandchildren, Ryan (Kim) Genther, Taylor Genther, Chantal Sharp, Keith (Wei) Oania, Akela Oania, Jacob Salsbury, Jaden Salsbury, Anne Linden, Matthew Linden, Joseph Linden, Joshua Campbell and Caleb Campbell and siblings, Miguel Oania and Perfecta Oania.
A private family service in his honor will be held.
